Back to school, back to game nights: this is September at KLEFF
September is synonymous with back to the routine, but in Barcelona it is also the month when the city fills up with new faces from all over the world. Hundreds of Erasmus and international students land these days to start a semester or a full academic year at the city's universities, often without knowing anyone and eager to make friends from day one.
It is precisely there where KLEFF can be a great international meeting point where it doesn't matter if you speak Spanish, English, or Catalan. At our tables, people play, laugh, and practice languages all at once. If you want to understand how our sessions work before coming, in "How it works" we explain it step by step.
This month is packed with activities. In addition to our classic Wednesday game nights at L'Estació Espai Gastronòmic, we have prepared a series of special events: a new edition of Slow Friending Lúdico, an official Azul tournament, the public debut of the latest release from Tranjis Games, a Catan macro-tournament, another Slow Friending session outside our usual venue, and the return to Kasa Hanaka with our traditional evening of Japanese gastronomy. We tell you all about it below.
Slow Friending Lúdico [Woman + Woman] · Wednesday, September 2
We open the month with a new edition of Slow Friending Lúdico in Woman + Woman format, in collaboration with the association Les Girls. It is a format designed to meet people in a relaxed way and without the pressure of a crowded game night: small groups, guided conversation dynamics, and, of course, board games as the perfect excuse to break the ice.
This edition also debuts a tech feature: the first social gaming functionality inside Konektum, the web app we developed specifically for this type of activity. The inaugural game is called "Quién es quién" and works like this: before the event, each participant fills out a short questionnaire in the form with questions such as "What is your profession?", "Share a fun fact", "What is your most useless talent?", "If your life were a movie, what genre would it be?", or "What thing are you embarrassed to admit you love?". During the session, those answers become the starting point to guess who's who in each round, generating much more genuine conversations than a simple "what do you do?".
This is just the first step: at KLEFF, we keep developing new social games inside Konektum so people can truly connect, beyond typical small talk. If you are interested in this format, you can write to us or follow us on Instagram so you don't miss the next edition.

Official Azul Tournament · Wednesday, September 9
On the very same Wednesday we celebrate our weekly game night, we raise the stakes with an official Azul tournament organized alongside RSGames, a store specialized in board games and trading card games. Azul is one of the most awarded abstract games of recent years: placing ceramic tiles to complete patterns on your board seems simple, but it hides a layer of strategy that hooks both beginners and expert players.
What makes this event special are the prizes: being a tournament within the official Asmodee circuit, those who reach the top positions will take home exclusive rewards, not available outside this kind of events. As always, you don't need to have played Azul before to sign up, just the desire to compete in a relaxed atmosphere. You can reserve your spot directly at the tournament link.

Presentation of Bomb5 (Tranjis Games) · Wednesday, September 16
Our Game Night on September 16 will feature Bomb5, the latest release from the publisher Tranjis Games, creators of hits like Virus!. Bomb5 is a fast and very accessible tile-placement game: each player places numbered tiles so that when the sum of connected tiles reaches 5, a chain reaction is triggered that can give you a cup in your favor... or reveal a bomb that changes everything. The first to get five face-up cups wins the game.
With games lasting barely 15 minutes and rules that can be explained in a moment, Bomb5 is perfect for the shared table atmosphere that characterizes KLEFF: easy to learn, quick to replay, and with that dose of unpredictability that guarantees laughs. That Wednesday there will be guided demonstrations for anyone who wants to try it for the first time, as well as giveaways of copies of the game among participants. As always, you can check all the details and sign up on the Meetup event page.

Catan Macro-tournament with Mathom · Saturday, September 19
On Saturday, September 19, we step outside our usual venue to celebrate, together with the Mathom store, a Catan macro-tournament at Galeries Maldà, right in the Gothic Quarter. Catan is, for many, the gateway to the world of modern board games: trading resources, building settlements and roads, and negotiating with other players to reach victory points before anyone else.
As a macro-tournament, we expect much higher attendance than our usual Wednesday tournaments, with multiple tables playing in parallel and a final phase to determine the champion of the day. Spots are limited to 80 participants.
It is a perfect opportunity to meet other Catan fans from all over Barcelona, not just the KLEFF community, so if you enjoy this classic, you can't miss it. You can register at this link.

Slow Friending Lúdico at Hugo's Diner · Monday, September 21
We repeat the Slow Friending Lúdico format, this time at Hugo's Diner, changing scene from our usual venue at L'Estació. The proposal follows the same philosophy as the edition on the 2nd: small groups, dynamics designed to facilitate conversation, and board games as a common thread so that meeting someone new doesn't depend solely on the luck of bumping into them at the bar.
Taking Slow Friending to different spaces allows us to reach audiences who might not know KLEFF yet and, along the way, offer a different experience every time to those who are already regular members of our community. If you have never been to a Slow Friending event, take a look at our blog to get an idea of the atmosphere before signing up.
Sign-ups will open soon, don't miss out!

Tarda de Jocs i Gastronomia Japonesa at Kasa Hanaka · Saturday, September 26
We close the month in style by returning to Kasa Hanaka for a new edition of our Tarde de Jocs i Gastronomia Japonesa, one of the most beloved formats in the community. The combination of homemade udon, Japanese sweets, and a selection of board games makes these afternoons fly by without anyone realizing it.
If you want to know how it went last time we were there, on our blog you can read the recap of the Sitting Bull demo at Kasa Hanaka, which gives a good idea of what awaits you: good food, great company, and discovering games that don't always feature on our regular Wednesday nights.

And don't forget: on Wednesdays we're still at L'Estació
All these special events add up to our usual core pillar: the weekly Wednesday Game Night at L'Estació Espai Gastronòmic, with over 600 games available, rule explanations for those who have never played, and a guaranteed multilingual atmosphere. Whether you're coming for the first time as a newcomer to Barcelona or you've been in our community for years, September is a great month to sit down at a table again.
👉 Check out upcoming events and join your first meetup on Meetup, follow us on Instagram @kleff.bcn, or write to us from the contact page. We're saving a seat for you.
