Halloween Game Night 2026 at KLEFF
On Wednesday, October 28, 2026, we're celebrating Halloween at KLEFF. Along with our usual game library, that night we'll have a costume contest with three categories, a Fearsome Floors tournament, a Halloween-themed murder mystery, themed sessions of Blood on the Clocktower, and a giveaway among attendees courtesy of Mathom.
It's no secret: the Halloween game night is one of our favorite events of the year. It's the night when the community dresses up, tables fill up with monsters, killers, and demons, and even the most peaceful game in the library ends up taking on a sinister twist. If you've never been to a KLEFF game night, this is the perfect excuse to jump in.
Below we'll tell you everything you'll find, how each activity works, and where you need to sign up.
🥸 Costume Contest
Dressing up isn't mandatory, but it is highly recommended. During the night we'll hold a costume contest with three categories:
Best Costume: the most impactful, the scariest, the most elaborate, or the most original. Anything goes here.
Best DIY Costume: for those who relied on cardboard, paint, old fabrics, and a lot of imagination. We reward handmade costumes over store-bought ones.
Best Group Costume: if you're coming as a group, coordinate. Monster families, a horror movie cast, board game characters... the more elaborate the group concept, the better.
A practical tip: think of a costume that lets you play comfortably. You'll spend a good part of the night sitting at a table moving pieces, shuffling cards, or interrogating suspects. You can also bring your costume in a backpack and change in the restroom right before the contest starts (around 9:30 PM).

🏆 Fearsome Floors Tournament
The big competition of the night will be a Fearsome Floors tournament, a classic by German designer Friedemann Friese (the guy with green hair, you're sure to recognize his games by their large, signature green boxes) that fits Halloween like a glove. Spots are limited, so if you want to participate, sign up as soon as possible:

What is Fearsome Floors about?
Fearsome Floors (also known as Finstere Flure) is a horror-themed board game for 2 to 7 players, originally published in 2003 by 2F-Spiele and returning in 2026 with a renewed edition, the "Reanimated Version". You can check out its full entry on BoardGameGeek.
The story is as absurd as it is fun: you've fallen into Prince Fieso's trap and you're stuck in his fortress. Waiting for you in the dungeon is Furunkulus, a monster with very few wits and a huge appetite. Your goal is to get your group of figures out the exit and onto the waiting bus outside before the monster catches them.
How to play
Each round has two phases:
Figures flee. In turn, each player moves their figures. Each token has a number on each side (and they always add up to 7): if you move a lot in one turn, you'll move very little in the next. You can hide behind stone blocks, push them, slide through blood puddles to move faster, or—the dirtiest move of all—leave other players' figures as bait.
The monster hunts. A tile is revealed indicating how many spaces Furunkulus moves (or how many victims he has to catch). The monster moves on its own, following fixed rules: it looks straight ahead, left, and right (never backward), and goes for the closest figure it sees. If it sees two at the same distance, it gets confused and goes straight.
The fun is that the monster is completely predictable... in theory. Knowing how to read where it's going and using that to your advantage (or against your rivals) is what makes the difference between escaping or ending up in its stomach.
The game is divided into two stages of 7 rounds. In the first one, captured figures just get a scare and return to the starting cell. In the second one, the monster shows no mercy: it eats them and they are eliminated. Whoever manages to rescue all their figures except one wins: 3 figures in 2 to 4-player games and 2 figures in 5 to 7-player games.
In addition to stone blocks and blood puddles, toy rabbit plushies appear on the basement board: you can hide behind them, but the monster loves them and will go straight to hug them. Good hiding spot or death trap? You'll find out when the hunt begins.
Why is it perfect for a Halloween tournament?
The rules are explained in a few minutes, no prior experience is needed, the game is text-free (ideal for our multilingual community), and every game is packed with tension and laughs. It's a racing game with lots of interaction and some chaos, so both first-time players and hobby veterans have a shot at winning.

🕵🏻♀️ Themed Halloween Murder Mystery
If roleplaying a character and figuring out who the culprit is is your thing, this is your activity. We're organizing a Halloween-set murder mystery, one of the most successful formats in our community.
In a murder mystery, each participant receives a character with their own backstory, secrets, and goals. Throughout the game you'll talk to the others, gather clues, hide what you don't want known, and connect the dots to unmask the killer. No acting skills needed: just a willingness to get into character and have a good time.
Languages: the game can be played in English and Spanish. If there is enough quorum, we will also organize a game in Catalan, so if you prefer it in Catalan, please indicate it when signing up.
Spots depend on the number of characters, so we recommend signing up in advance:

😈 Blood on the Clocktower: Themed Sessions
For those who enjoy social deduction, we'll have themed sessions of Blood on the Clocktower, one of the most popular hidden role games of recent years.
In Blood on the Clocktower, a village faces a demon hiding among its inhabitants. Each player secretly receives a character with a special ability: most belong to the good team and must discover and execute the demon; a few are on the evil side and will do everything possible to blend in. A storyteller runs the game, manages information, and ensures no one ever has all the certainties.
Unlike other games of this style, here whoever dies doesn't just sit and watch: they keep participating in conversations and retain one final vote, so no one gets bored. Bluffs, alliances, accusations, and last-minute twists: it's hard to find a game with more atmosphere for a Halloween night.
